For any eagle eyed readers of my blog, you may have noticed a slight resemblance between Lake Mckenzie and Whitehaven beach that I blogged about here in my Whitsundays post. The sand on this beach is the same sand that makes Whitehaven so unique. I was under the impression that Whitehaven was the only beach to have this 98% silica beneath my feet, but here I am standing on it once again!
The depth increases rather quickly in this lake, the reason for the change in colour seen in the images above and below.
I really cannot get over how clear the water is in Australia…
Lake Mckenzie! What did you think? Have you been? Let me know and as always, thanks for reading and I will see you in the comments 🙂

Ah that water looks so clear.

It is so clear! Very inviting despite my fear of going into water in Australia xD

Haha how funny! I’m from Australia and I’ve never had anything bad happen my whole life 😂

Haha well I have learned that in the UK we are led to believe anything will kill you at any time in Australia, but living here has made me relax a little more. But even back home I am skeptical about putting my feet in the water, I think I just have a phobia of large bodies of water…

Haha yes I think everyone not from Australia has that fear! Glad it’s easing though… I agree. It is big and deep down there!

Oh my that water is beautiful! I think I’d like the chance to walk on a silica beach:)

And the best thing is, this sand never heats up in summer! It stays cool no matter the temperature, so none of that running as fast as you can to the water 🙂

We actually have areas like that here, but only because they’re only accessible by air or boat, I’m sure.

Did you see any dingos?

I didn’t and even our tour guide was shocked! We did see fresh footprints though…

We saw a few of them. Two were battling over a fishbone on the beach.

That would be a cool sight! Sadly a dead whale washed up on the beach and our guide told us that the dingoes would start eating it soon…

That is sad, but the way of the wild I guess.

Wow, I thought the water in the Turks and Caicos and Bahamas was clear – pristine is the only word I can think of to describe that lake!

I bet those beaches are lovely too! The water is beautifully clear, rather cold but not that that’s an issue!

It truly is Cherryl, a great place to visit. And very quiet in a lot of areas away from the beach!
