This morning it poured down here in Brisbane. In fact it may have rained all night as I was caught in it at midnight after watching Newcastle get beat by Tottenham… a goal that really shouldn’t have went in. The weather cleared up nicely by this afternoon.
I am not sure about you however I love a rainy day. The soothing sound of rain hitting the ground chills me right out, I have been using rainfall soundtracks on Spotify and YouTube to help me concentrate on writing too with great results. I also love that it gives me an excuse to wind down a little and just stay in one spot without the urgency to get out the house and into the world. It doesn’t feel so much like a wasted day if the sun isn’t blazing.
But it doesn’t mean the day is unproductive, more that it is just productive in a different way. Less physical and more sit and read a book or blog. It gives us a different way to go about the day and I like that. Rain has been rare in Brisbane recently so it was a positive change.
How was the weather where you are this weekend? Are you a fan of a rainy day? I feel my fellow Brits will be strongly against me on this one!

Rain sounds wonderful as I sit here in 40 degree heat in northern Victoria …. anything to cool the air down would be good 🥵

Expecting freezing rain overnight tonight in the American Midwest, so the commute to work tomorrow should be extra slow and dangerous. Woo hoo!

Oh well it isn’t good for that! Fingers crossed for a safe journey. Drive safely!

I’m new to your blog. I don’t mind the rain as long as it’s not accompanied by lightning and thunder. I hate seeing the lightning because I know wait can do. My hubby on the other hand is more like you. He loves to see the rain falling and also just to hear it. Great post.👍🏾

I do like a storm with it! As long as it doesn’t cause disruption. However saying that a storm isn’t good for relaxing as I am always on the lookout for the lightning strikes. Just rain for me if I want to close my eyes and chill 🙂

It has been raining hard here in Los Angeles too, which is kinda rare honestly, and I am not sure if I like it. But it gives some good vibes:)

I think a hard rain is a nice break from continuous sun and heat, especially for farmers and the people needing it. But some love it and some hate it, I guess we just have to embrace it 🙂

I agree that it is beneficial for many people, which is why I feel guilty when I say I dont like the rain. But yeah, we have to embrace it.

By our news reports, Australia can use all the rain it can get right now.
We’ve finally got real cold temps & it makes things impossible for us to go out in anything but the Go-Bus, which is door to door service. -26*C. at the moment with wind chill making it feel like -35*C.

Not as cold as it used to get, & this is much shorter lived than it used to be as well.
The news is on at the moment & we just saw that awful flooding!

Yep, Townsville has it pretty bad, near where I did my farmwork 😦

Pretty typical summer weather on the Queensland coastline, luckily Brisbane didn’t get flooding this year but further north it’s drastic.

It seems it, I have seen a lot of footage on the news, it’s very sad. I feel fortunate we don’t have it here.

Sam- I too love a rainy day. And there is something about falling asleep to the sound of gently falling rain. It refreshes me in multiple ways. -Jill
