I booked my flight back to Europe

So, this is the moment that really makes me realise I am going home. I have booked my flight from Melbourne to London on the 27th August, so just over a month’s time. But I am looking forward to it and what I am going to do next.

I don’t really have a plan apart from try to move to London. It is a world city that I have always had on my doorstep yet never given any time to. From Newcastle it is a mere three hours on the train or a quick flight- just over an hour. I guess when something is always just around the corner, there is less urgency to visit. And with the rest of Europe being so close I hardly consider many UK destinations. Maybe I should make more effort to do so.

I will be flying with Etihad Airways, so will fly through Abu Dhabi. I have two stops so I also have to get off at Amsterdam, but I found a good deal so I don’t mind. It will also be a lot shorter than my flight here, 37 hours if I recall, as I had a 17 hour layover in Singapore. I didn’t mind this however as Singapore has a great airport, and provides a free coach trip around the city for those with long layovers. If you fancy a read of my experience you can read about Changi Airport here and Singapore here.

So that’s it, I have until August 27th to enjoy Australia before I depart this great country and head on more worldwide adventures. I think I might make a collection of my favourite photos and upload a picture daily throughout August on here and Instagram. It will be nice to remind myself of the places I have been and share them with you all. Narrowing my pictures down to 30 or so will be a challenge!

Have a great day wherever you are.

  1. Just about to jump on a plane and travel to Germany and France – I’ve missed the adrenaline rush of travel!! Two years is too long…

  2. I am currently thinking of escaping the UK to the Antarctic if it gets any hotter here! I am melting in my neoprene wellies that are great at keeping your feet warm whilst dog walking, and very much needed to avoid cow pats in the fields, but right now flipflops and cow pat feet is looking more appealing! It may have cooled down here by the time you arrive.

  3. I know how you feel, I remember booking our flights back to London. It’s easy to get stuck once back, I am happy to report that I have tickets back to India 31 Dec, just for a five week trip but far better than nothing. My husband and I are each doing a solo five week India trip one after the other, me first, after which we will reflect on what to do next. Another big trip? Emigrate? Until then, we will do a bit of paid work and enjoy life on the boat.
All the best with reintegration, I would be curious to read how you find the experience of being back in the UK. I can really relate to your wish to be in London, it feels a bit like travelling as you meet so many adventurous people from all over the world.
    Wishing you all the best

    1. Oh wow that sounds fun! Plenty of things to consider too it seems. I hope you figure everything out and whatever plan you have is a great one.

I do agree that London will still seem like travelling as I hardly know the city and it will be fun of people of all nationalities. I am looking forward to it and blogging about the experience!

      1. Ok I can’t wait to read about these last activities. You’ll get them done as I find a deadline always helps to get my butt in motion!

    1. Yes 😦 Thank you for following my blog for so long, I will make sure to post as much back home as I do here, and of interesting things! The danger of being home is getting stuck in old habits and I will make sure I don’t and continue to blog about things I feel worthy. I hope you stick around! 🙂
