The blogger

A blogger from the north east of England, passionate about writing and eager to learn the art of photography. In September I moved back to the UK after two amazing years travelling Australia.

After a brief trip back to see family up north, I have now moved to London. I am planning to stay a few years, explore as much as I can and have plenty of experiences along the way. I ask you to help me. I am very excited to get out there, take some shots and share some stories with you.

I appreciate everyone that has engaged with me so far in the years I have been blogging, and welcome to the site if you are new. Join me and over 10,000 others as I walk the hidden streets, grab a beer at the oldest pubs and see the city from the tallest skyscrapers.

Adventures start January 2020*

    1. Nice about page, you have structure your blog well. Mine is quite disorganised but i started it as a hobby and it remains as such.

I think contemplating life..- as you say being in your own head is healthy especially uf you journal it out. I feel a life unanalysed is a life with no direction. If we dont stop and think then how do we know ourself and knowing oneself is vital to happiness.

I believe in soul and god i call my self spirtual. I think there is a difference in being spiritual and religion. I think religion works for many and tries to bring people close to god, but some religions have done bad things in the name of god and that is so wrong. And that gives other religions a bad name. And god a bad name.

I think you have a solid blog as a 20 something.

And life is one big learning curve ..if you wanna kerp learning.

I forgot which famous persons quote it was, it goes .. most people die physically at 75 , but they died at 20 or their last day of school. Or words to the effect off. Meaning if we stop learning and reflecting we die intellectually and emotionally

Anyways nice about page and blog

      1. Thank you so much for your kind words here, I really appreciate it and despite us having differing opinions on certain things in life and religion, I enjoy the conversation. It is great to learn something else about you and you have very wise words. I loved the quote about people dying at 20 or their last days of school, I see that. Our aim should be to find ways to keep living.

        Thank you again!

  3. Thanks, Sam, for following me and my blog. Truly appreciated. I’d like to follow yours, as well, but cannot find a “follow” button of any kind here. Is it hidden somewhere, or am I just missing it? Thanks again Sam, and best to you!

    1. No worries, and thank you so much for stopping by.

That is strange, it should appear on the screen at the bottom right when scrolling through my page (this is the case on my laptop) and on my website it shows a follow button for me at the very bottom left. I hope this helps!

Nice blog you have here. My views on religion in life totally opposite from yours, but hey, would love to hear stories from your side.

  6. Thanks for following my blog! You’re the first! It’s still in construction. i like the name of yours. after many years of reading and questioning, i sat on the fence as an agnostic. then i realized it was Fear keeping me there. i became a scared Atheist, but now i Own it! my blog is about current events, politics, inequality. stuff like that. i’m a big believer in Critical Thinking which is why i’m so mad and feel so compelled to get it out on my keyboard.

  7. Hello, thanks for the follow! Like you, I enjoy travelling, thinking about a variety of things, and having fun exploring life to the fullest. Religion has played an interesting role in my life, but I’m not here blogging for debate. Well, look forward to reading! Cheers!πŸ˜„

  8. Nice to hear that you LIKE traveling and writing. Every start is a good start, which has been proved with the contents of this blog. Let us follow each other. Although we have different likings e.g. I like selfless services and you traveling! Thanks!!!

    1. I love both! And doing both together keeps me inspired, it is easier to write if I have travel stories to share.

Thank you for your kind words, sometimes it is better if we have different likes, it keeps conversation interesting!

  9. HI Sam, I was just reading your About page, the part where you say you’re not religious because you don’t want your reward after you die. Well I hope you will indulge me for a few lines since I’m a Christian, and I think you did say you’re opened to enlightenment. When you die, that’s just a temporary death in the grave….that’s if you know God. If you know and follow Him, you will live for an eternity. He is coming back again for His loved ones, and I do believe it will be soon….you could still be alive as no one know when He’s coming. I’ve only read a few of your posts so far but you seem like a nice young man, you may want to spend a little time seeking Him (God) out. Your life would be even more rewarding and fulfilling. So glad I came across your blog, and surprisingly enough I have enjoyed the posts I’ve read so far. Take care for now and stay safe on those scooters….Don’t forget to wear your helmet.

    1. Thank you for stopping by my site and reading some posts, I really appreciate it. The problem for religion for me is evidence, I just find very little reason to follow the Christian God anymore than Islam, Greek mythology and the thousands of religions that have presented themselvesi the world over time.
It isn’t that I don’t want reward after I die, that sounds fantastic if it were true! It is more that I don’t like the idea that we get it after we die, as it leads to a life of servitude without the guarantee of that pay. It sounds more like a con to me. But I have purposely changed my blog to me more welcoming for everyone of all walks of life, religious or not, and I appreciate that we can get along.

I hope you have a great week!

      1. Have a good week Sam. I’m not going to try to convince you, that is something for the Holy Spirit to do. I think where Christianity is different than all the others is that Jesus was the only one that died and rose again. You may even be able to find that out in the history books without even picking up a Bible. And in relation to the reward after death, we were never supposed to live like this, but mankind was given a choice and now it has to go through to the finish. Take care. I will be still dropping by to check out your post.

  11. Thanks for the follow, Sam…’s always a kick to hear from other bloggers from all over the world! All of us, I imagine, write for a variety of reasons—some similar, some different. But we probably all share one thing, for sure—a love of writing. I took from what you wrote in ‘Quitting Blogging’ that it doesn’t really matter how many readers we have; what matters is that we keep reaching out to them.
Here’s an older post from my blog to that effect that I hope you’ll enjoy—
    Write on!

  12. Sam, what struck me the most is that you said you don’t like the idea of β€œpromised treasures” after we die, but the next lines were about you being open to being wrong!
I’m a believer of the things of God but when you said that part about being open to being wrong, i told my judgemental self to shut up for a second because I was intrigued at the thought of being wrong myself! I would love to have conversation with you as to why you believe the things you do…as well as why we choose the actions we do.

Hope you’re doing well, I’m trying to get this blogging thing rolling so you were my first blog page that I chose to read to try and learn something from. And I have. Thank you.

    1. Hey Jman, thank you so much for commenting, I really appreciate the kind words towards my blog!

My earlier posts (probably the first 3 years or so) were more about religion and me leaving it, so if you dig deep enough you will see hundreds of posts about my thoughts and why I left religion. But speaking purely on this topic got me down a little and I wanted to mix it up and for my site to be more inviting for everyone.

With this in mind I greatly appreciate the time you have taken to read it, and I admire your open mindedness!

      I hope you’re having a great week,

  13. Thank you for the follow Sam. I shall take a good look at your blog and learn from someone clearly very experienced at this. I have only just dipped my toe in and you following my blog is very kind of you, considering it’s current lack of content, note to self…. I need to get more content on my blog asap.

  16. Nice to meet you Sam. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Glad that you are able to travel in your youth. I did that myself at your age but there was no blogging, internet or cell phone back then. I now again am blessed enough to be able to travel. Will look at your blog some more when I get a chance.
