Some more winter shots…

Here are a couple more winter shots from around London, these were taken in the Soho area, close to Piccadilly Circus in my previous post.

These were taken on my GoPro Hero 7 silver, a fairly new model when I bought it. I really wanted to get a camera that would take good video and timelapses, but I also wanted to experiment with the images I could get from it too. It has more of a fish eye lens meaning a lot can fit into the screen from close proximity.

Some decent shots can be taken on the ground (literally putting it on the floor with it being waterproof) and getting the ground, buildings and sky all in one shot for a more all round photo.

I also used this in Edinburgh, catching some nice shots of the local sights. It is a great camera for still shots, with objects appearing so close you can almost touch them despite capturing so much behind it too. My sister being the center of attention in the first shot!

If anyone is interested I have linked the Edinburgh post right here, it really is one of my favourite cities and one I never get bored of walking around. Both the architecture and landscape is stunning and I couldn’t recommend it enough. You may recognize the last picture as the one I use on my Instagram and at the bottom of my website when scrolling down. Despite the Walter Scott Monument being in Edinburgh I haven’t found a picture I want to replace with it yet in London. So it will remain for a wee while!

Just a couple more shots I wanted to share with you, more tomorrow and hopefully more time too. I have been fairly busy today, despite not leaving the house. My flatmate and I are currently watching Tiger King as well, which so far has got us both hooked. For someone that doesn’t watch much TV, I have surprised myself for sure.

Has anyone been watching it? It seems to have everyone’s attention.

No spoilers though please!!

😀

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak I am somewhat limited as to what I can do in London, but I aim to post as much as I can during this time. I promise to have some great posts coming your way once this is all over as I continue to explore London.

Stay home, stay safe and happy blogging!

Sam

  1. Great photos Sam. I love Edinburgh … I’ve only been there a couple of times, but we were on a posting with the military up in Glasgow which was (apart from the weather) fantastic. Again, striking architecture although decidedly ‘grittier’ than Edinburgh. We were in London last year for twelve months and it was good to go back there after so many years away. It always feels like home to me. Katie

    1. Never been to Glasgow! But I would love to. Glad you had a great experience there despite the weather. I would certainly imagine Glasgow to be different to Edinburgh, but I would like to see the differences myself sometime.

Pleased you had fun in London too, especially as you consider it home. Thank you so much for the lovely comments Katie!!

    1. Thanks Nadia! Much appreciated. Soho seems like a very lively area, it’s in a great location close to Chinatown/Covent Garden/Piccadilly Circus too so you could definitely spend a day around here.

      Thanks for commenting!

  2. Great shots, love the different perspectives! Haha I’m watching Tiger King with the siblings… Maybe it will be the first series I’ll watch all the way through… no promises though!

    1. It isn’t often you hear someone saying that! So I love this comment haha. I do love the beauty of a winters day, thank you so much for the kind words.

Tiger King is all the rage right now, I wasn’t able to escape it as everyone is talking about it on my social media. I haven’t seen the Witcher though, hope it’s good!

  4. I love the shots from the ground, it’s really impressive how much fits in the frame!

No Tiger King over here just yet… we’re always wrapped up in multiple shows! Right now it’s Malcolm in the Middle on Hulu (despite having seen all the episodes when it first aired), The Blacklist on Netflix and we keep up with the weekly episodes of The Good Doctor (which the season finale was last week), Prodigal Son and The Walking Dead. There’s also movies thrown in… recently it was Saving Private Ryan, Windtalkers, Toy Story and today was Instant Family.

    1. I love the GoPro for this! I don’t have to stand as far back as I would with a traditional camera, in fact I can get even closer.

Some great shows you listed there too, you sound like you are very much prepared for isolation. It will be hard to get you out again :p

      1. It sounds like a very good camera!

I’m not minding the isolation as much as many others likely are. We’re still working like normal so besides me not coaching or going out to restaurants I can’t say a whole lot has changed for Jason and me. I think if we had people we regularly saw it would be different, but we don’t, so we’re just chilling together and seeing my dad on occasion to go running. I’m sure you’re chomping at the bit more to get out exploring the city!

      2. That is great if your routine hasn’t changed too much. I guess mine hasn’t changed too much either apart from having more days off between shifts. But yes I am very eager to go out exploring again!

Pleased to hear you both are doing well and I am sure you will be eating at restaurants before you know it!
